Emma recently styled our Creative Director Beck's home for her debut feature in Style at Home magazine, and whilst she says it was an easy job given how lovely Beck's home is, we're still in awe.
Emma turned to freelance styling four years ago and has been busy project managing and styling editorial shoots as well as styling rooms and models for TV, fashion and interiors ever since.
Having completed two degrees in Furniture Design and Architecture Emma has always felt at home exploring all things creative. She says that "styling and decorating gives me the opportunity to pull together all my skills, right from initial idea to a colourful and inspiring end result."
Luckily she agreed to sit in the hot seat herself and answer a quick Q&A for us, so what is life like for an interior designer? All glamour and glitz? We found out...
WHAT IS YOUR MOST UNUSUAL SOURCE OF INSPIRATION AND HOW DOES IT INFLUENCE YOUR WORK?
Everything around me is inspiring….from the changing seasons and the natural world to the latest fashion trends…to the latest shade of nail varnish.
WHAT 5 THINGS CAN'T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?
I can’t live without my family, laughter, dancing, music and homemade granola!
ANYTHING YOU'RE TIRED OF STYLING OR SHOOTING?
No because although trends tend to be cyclical….there’s always a new twist.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU? ANYTHING YOU'RE EXCITED TO WORK ON?
I have a 2 day decorating shoot next week for Homestyle magazine, on how to cosy up your home for an October issue so I’m using lots of Autumnal colours.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SUMMER?
I have three school age children so it’s always a relief not to have to do the school run, and think about school uniform during the summer. Plus of course I LOVE travelling. We’ve just come back from Israel.
WHAT'S YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION?
My health and my family’s health.
DO YOU HAVE ANY AMBITIONS OUTSIDE INTERIOR STYLING?
I’ve always wanted to open up a cafe….I love to cook and feed people.
IF YOU COULD PICK ANYONE'S HOME TO SHOOT WHOSE WOULD YOU CHOSE?
It would definitely be somewhere outside the UK. It would be great to shoot somewhere in Asia, somewhere rich in culture and colour.
HOW DO YOU RELAX?
Zumba is fantastic for the soul. It’s great exercise and puts a smile of my face. I always feel invigorated afterwards.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE CITY FOR INTERIOR INSPIRATION?
Oooh…what a choice…..do I have to choose?
ARE THERE ANY NEW BRANDS OR UP-COMING STYLES THAT WE SHOULD BE LOOKING OUT FOR?
I love the homemade products from Etsy.com. Made.com is also always full of inspiration products at great prices.
